Rating: PANTS ON FIRE

In 2017, Phillipsburg's municipal tax burden was increased by 0.5% and in 2016, the tax increase was 0.2%.  This means that the tax burden was increased by less than 1% in over two years.

The largest tax increases in Phillipsburg were in 2010 and 2011. Across those two years, the tax burden was increased a whopping $1,115,944 - that's more than a 10% tax increase on the people of Phillipsburg.

In 2017, the total tax burden increase for Phillipsburg taxpayers was $58,379 - which is a 0.5% tax increase.

This means it would take Mayor Ellis almost 20 years to increase the town's tax burden to the same level the former Republican administration accomplished in two years.
