Did Mayor Ellis created a made-up job of Deputy Attorney to the Mayor?

Claim:  Mayor Ellis Created a Made Up Job of Deputy Attorney.

Claim rating: Pants on fire

Source of Claim:  This claim was made on a Republican candidate video that was sent out.  This was also sent out on a separate mailer that was sent out.

This claim is totally false and untrue.  Info provided below with documentation also provided as proof that this is a blatant untruth.

  • This "made-up job" was proposed by Republican Council President, Todd Tersigni
    • The position was established by ordinance and passed by a 5 to 0 vote (unanimous) of the Republican controlled council.
    • "this administration can work together...-it is a good compromise and we can work together now and in the future" Council Meeting Minutes, 03/15/2016
  • In the second public reading of the ordinance, Oridinance 2016-05 was approved and adopted on March 15, 2016, by the Republican-controlled Town Council with all members in attendance voting yes.  The vote was 4 to 0 (unanimous), Randy Piazza was absent.

The Deputy Attorney position has allowed for the Mayor and Council to receive services and council that far exceeds the cost of the position.
